We are thrilled to highlight our Senior Accounting Manager, Michael Huh. Michael has been a valuable part of Kranz Consulting since February 2014. Read the full interview to learn more about Michael’s expertise, his passion for his work, and how he helps his clients thrive.

What is your hometown? Torrance, CA

What is your alma mater? University of California, Irvine

What are your favorite things to do outside of the office? I really enjoy golfing not only for the sport but also for the aesthetics and challenges of each course. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants and cuisines, and being involved at my church.

How has your background impacted your experience as a consultant? Prior to joining Kranz Consulting, I spent a few years at a CPA firm with experience in both tax and audit. The workflow and operations are similar to Kranz, especially in terms of managing multiple client accounts. This experience was invaluable and a steppingstone to my transition to Kranz.

What’s a typical workday like for you? I would say most workdays are atypical and revolve around the deliverables and scheduling for that day. With multiple clients to take care of, it’s important to know when to shift gears and prioritize, as it’s not uncommon for urgencies to arise at any point. Consistent and efficient communication with team members and clients is a daily importance as well.

What motivates you to wake up and go to work every day? I believe I have built a strong relationship with my clients and understand their needs. I also have a solid understanding of the technical workflow and deliverables. Kranz Consulting has built a strong reputation in the consulting and financial services industry. These are the factors which motivate me to wake up and go to work every day.

What kind of work have you been doing? I am part of the Venture Capital Fund Administration Practice and serve several clients with investment focuses primarily in early-stage technology. Our most routine types of services include financial statements preparation and reporting, audit and tax management, investor communication, and budgeting and forecasting.

Where do you believe you deliver the most value to your client? I believe I have a well-rounded understanding of each of my client’s needs and expectations. They can count on me and my team to manage their reporting, deliverables, and other matters on a consistent, year-round basis.

How do you organize environments with a lack of reporting infrastructure or inefficiency? In our line of work, it’s not uncommon to have times when cleanup and process improvements are necessary. It helps to take a step back and assess the situation first in order to plan to incorporate a better system and process.

What’s your process like? When a specific situation or client request arises, I first plan for how best and efficiently to approach the matter instead of rushing into it. Planning is a critical stage and helps the workflow unfold naturally. Collaboration with other team members can also help as we have a strong line of team members with various expertise.
